I have no idea if anyone still reads this thing (I know it's highly unlikely). On the off-chance that anyone does still have this pop up in a feed of theirs, Seymour, Mike, Gish and Neil will be playing the whole of God Bless Miss Black America at the Carter USM aftershow party in Brixton this Saturday. They'll be onstage after midnight.

Gubbins and bumph is as follows:

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of recording debut album 'God Bless Miss Black America', that album's line-up of MBA (Mike on bass, Neil on drums, Gish on guitar and Seymour on vocals) are reuniting to play the Carter USM Brixton aftershow at JAMM.

Full line-up:

Miss Black America
Clinton USM (Japanese Carter tribute band)
Deferred Success

Freedom Festival - tomorrow! Jul. 28th, 2006 @ 10:39 am
Morning kids,

Just in case you haven't heard, MBA are doing their last gig for aaaaages tomorrow. It's at an all-dayer for Liberty and Amnesty International at the Underworld in Camden. It starts at 2pm and ends when we're all dead.
As well as MBA you'll be treated to a whole heap of greasy goodness like Popular Workshop who've been added to the bill at the last minute and they're they're so good you'll wet yourself.

It's $5 advance/before 4pm (except obviously it's pounds, not dollars, I just can't find the pound key on this FUCKING COMPUTER).

You say party, I say HAM

It's so hot I think my brain might have melted.

*Monroe* Jan. 9th, 2006 @ 11:12 pm
Hope this is allowed...

My band, Monroe, are playing at the Flapper and Firkin in Birmingham, U.K, this Wednesday, 11th Jan.

If any of you guys have nothing to do and are in the viscinity, then come on down.

You never know, you just might like us...x

Interview with MBA Oct. 21st, 2005 @ 09:18 am
Hey guys,

I interviewed MBA the other day, and got loads of stuff wrong 'cause of poor research, but the interview is here: http://www.makenoiseanddance.co.uk/modules/news/article.php?storyid=178 if anyone wants a look.

I putting up pics of the Colchester gig soon too.

I took a zillion photos from that night, so here's the ones I consider to be okay-to-good.

78 photos, 800x600 resolution. Warning: Many of these are close-up shots of SeymourCollapse )

It was a very fun gig. Last time I visited this community, it was pretty much dead. I'm glad to see it's starting up again, since MBA are now somewhat active. I don't know about anyone else, but the new album ranks as my first or second album of the year so far. I can't stop listening to the damn thing!

A couple of pictures of MBA from the Ruby Slippers Records launch thing last night. Apologies for the, well, crappyness, but there was a free bar, so what the fuck do you expect?

tumtetumCollapse )

they were really bloody good, by the way.
Although what was with the girls handing out cigarettes? It was "promotion for the band", apparently. Hey, I'm not complaining!

yeah so, er, bit quiet here innit.

anyone heard the album? seen them live recently? know what seymour's mysterious disappearance all about? tell all.

just wanted to say that I had a groovy time at the Burysound all dayer. It was a good day.
» Maybe not directly MBA related, but...
I imagine MBA fans would be interested in this, already posted something about it on their guestbook:

From the eFestivals website:

The Libertines are to headline the London Love Music Hate Racism Festival, at Finsbury Park, north London, on Sunday 6 June, from 12 noon til 8pm.

The event is completely FREE to enter, though they will be asking everyone who can to give a donation to help pay for the cost of staging it.

Headlining a wonderfully eclectic bill will be THE LIBERTINES, with a VERY special guest artist to be announced next week, and there's something for everyone across a main stage and dance marquee that feature rock, hip-hop, reggae, garage, indie, bashment, punk, r&b and drum'n'bass. The very best of UK music talent uniting against racism and fascism.

The event comes just four days before the London Assembly and Euro elections on Thursday 10 June in which the fascist BNP hope to win seats. The BNP are currently polling 5% of the vote in London, enough to get them a seat on the GLA. They need get only 10% in any Euro seat to get an MEP. But we can stop them. The 6 June festival, along with the one in Manchester on 30 May will see tens of thousands celebrating black and white unity against the racists and fascists and send a message out loud and clear - the BNP's not welcome here!

Rumour has it that the "VERY special guest artist" may in fact be Morrissey (!!!!!)... please don't bitch at me if this turns out to be false though! I'm just repeating the most widespread and likely-sounding rumour that I've heard...

The preliminary line-up is available here.

'Twould be cool to see some of you there ;D
